Valve’s ‘DotA 2 Reborn’ gets 5.5GB patch

Looks like there’s more downloading in store for you if you have Valve’s DotA 2 Reborn. The game is finally available to the public in beta and it seems there’s a significant number of bugs to fix. You originally had to download 7GB for the game, now you have to download around 5.5GB of data for the patch. Some of the big issues this patch fixes include “Fixed illusions being able to manipulate and sell items;” “Fixed Huskar causing significant frame rate loss;” and “Fixed crash when dire or radiant ancients are destroyed.” Prepare to do some heavy duty downloading.

For those who aren’t familiar with DotA 2 Reborn, this is Valve’s attempt to bring new graphics to the game. It’s now powered by Valve’s Source 2 engine and it features things like a new menu system, user interface, and other aspects of the game.

Google Inbox now auto-suggests reminders from your email

Whether you’ve accepted that Google sweeps through your email for keywords or whatnot, you’re getting new handy features for it. Google Inbox is adding another element to make it easier to keep track of your to-do list. The app now makes use of Google’s natural language understanding feature to look if a particular email needs to be turned into something actionable. You’ll be prompted by the app to make a reminder. If you chose to do that, it’ll join your Inbox messages, notify you when the specified time and place comes up, and it’ll be kept in your Reminders tab until you decide to delete it.

This feature also ties in with Google Keep and it even shows up on your Google Now stream. When you make reminders now with Keep, those also show up on your Inbox. You can choose to view them within the email app or you can tap on the link to take you to Keep. This feature works on the web and iOS as well.

Google users can now request to unlink revenge porn from its search engine

Google is joining the likes of Facebook, Reddit, and Twitter to put a stop to revenge porn circling on their portals. Google plans to scrub search results of “nude or sexually explicit images” that are shared without consent. But you’re going to have to request from Google to have these links removed, similar to the company’s existing form to request the removal of sensitive information.

“Our philosophy has always been that Search should reflect the whole web. But revenge porn images are intensely personal and emotionally damaging, and serve only to degrade the victims—predominantly women,” wrote Amit Singhal, SVP of Google Search, in a blog post released Friday.

Apple takes out original iPad mini from its online store

Apple has finally pulled the plug on the original, nearly three-year-old iPad mini and took it off the Apple Online Store this week. The iPad mini was announced back in October 2012 as the smaller alternative to the iPad. It has since been succeeded by the iPad mini 2 and mini 3. You might still be able to get your hands on the original iPad mini at third-party resellers but that probably will only last until leftover stocks run out.
