Credit: Apple

If the rumours are true, the upcoming OLED iPad mini is expected to be "considerably more expensive" than the current US$500 model (CA$849 in Canada). Bloomberg's Mark Gurman predicts the new tablet could cost "something closer" to US$799 (around CA$1,139). The new model is expected to run on an A20 Pro processor and include a landscape FaceTime camera, a redesigned speaker setup, and a water-resistant design. The OLED iPad mini is anticipated to be launched alongside Apple's new OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro models "on or around" October 27.

Apple is bringing its smallest tablet into the Apple Intelligence era. The company announced the new Apple iPad mini via a press release, which isn't surprising given it's mostly a spec bump. However, it is the tablet's first upgrade since 2021.

The Apple iPad mini now runs on the new A17 Pro processor, offering 30 percent faster CPU, 25 percent faster GPU, and a Neural Engine that's twice as fast as its predecessor. It also supports the new Apple Pencil Pro and gets a storage bump from 64GB to 128GB for the base model. (The AI models will need all the extra space they can get). It also now has a faster Wi-Fi 6E processor and a USB-C port.

Apple investigates iPad mini 6 charging issues after latest iPadOS update

Source: Apple

Apple is looking into charging issues the iPad mini 6 is running into after updating to the latest iPadOS 15.5 version. MacRumors got hold of a memo sent to authorized service providers stating it is aware of the situation. Some users report that the iPad mini isn't charging after the update.

Apple advises service providers and retail staff to inform customers to restart the device as a temporary fix while looking into the problem. The company noted that hardware replacement of the unit or its battery doesn't solve the issue, which confirms it's a software issue. Apple is beta testing iPadOS 15.6, which could potentially fix the problem.
