HTC launches Re Grip health tracker at MWC

HTC teamed up with Under Armour to develop the new HTC Re Grip wearable focused on sports and health tracking. Compatible with iOS and Android, this bracelet resembles similar products from Nike and FitBit but brings a curved display. Taking aim at Nike and TomTom, the Grip is equipped with a GPS for tracking distance and location and it integrates with Under Armour's UA Record app. There's no heart-rate tracking component.

The Grip will initially be sold in the US only and the suggested retail price $199. The company is promising up to 5 hours of battery life while GPS is activated, or 2.5 days with GPS off.

HTC launches new HTC One (M9) at MWC in Barcelona

HTC today launched the successor to its HTC One flagship. The HTC One (M9) features a similar all-aluminum design as its predecessors but blends various colour accents. Billed as the new standard for luxury,  this is the third generation of the HTC One line, it features a silver and gold hairline finish which HTC claims is the the first time such a finish is available in a unibody design. HTC One (M9) comes in mid-March.

In terms of specs. The HTC One (M9) has the antenna design of the M7 and the design of the (M8). The Snapdragon 810 Octa-core processor powers the (M9). The rear camera is a 20 megapixel sensor with the latestes in BSI technology. This sapphire glass covered camera boasts SLR-level of details and quality.

Acer's Liquid Leap+ is a basic notification-enabled health tracker for US $90

Acer's entry into the wearables market comes in the form of a basic fitness tracker that also features the ability to flash notifications and alerts. The Liquid Leap is designed to be an inexpensive wearable that features  Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, a variety of colours and is  is IPX7-certified water resistant. The good news is that Acer has made its wearable compatible with iOS, Android and Windows Phone devices. The device is coming to Europe, the Middle East and Africa later this month.

Huawei Watch earns early accolades at MWC

Huawei was expected to make an impact at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona with some forward thinking smartphones and phablets. The emerging giant has instead impressed both press and analysts with a duo of wearable devices. 

The premium-looking Huawei Watch is undoubtedly the most luxurious Android Wear device on the market and is currently the sexiest looking smartwatch in the market right now. Huawei has settled on a 42mm round face featuring a 286 ppi 1.4-inch AMOLED touchscreen. Available in over 20 countries, including Canada when it ships in mid-June, Huawei Watch will be sold in gold, silver and black with an assortment of straps and 40 custom watchfaces. Pricing was not revealed.
