Waze may come pre-installed on your next Android phone

The next generation of Android phones might come with the Waze. The navigation app is part of Google’s Mobile Services, which is a list of apps manufacturers and carriers can ship with their devices. If you remember, Google bought Waze two years ago and kept it separate from Google Maps. Of course, it seems like a plan to get more people to use Waze but that’ll still depend on the carrier and manufacturer if they intend to carry it.

BlackBerry is working on a new BB10 slider

BlackBerry hasn't been resting on its laurels. After launching the BlackBerry Leap today in Barcelona, the company briefly showed off a premium BB10 smartphone that incorporates a large touchscreen with a QWERTY-keyboard slider reminiscent of its Torch line of devices.

What is interesting about this device is speculation that it will offer a curved display and that it is actually a collaboration with Samsung.

Others are saying it is a Porsche design premium variant (I doubt it). BlackBerry has satisfied the touch and the QWERTY fans with new devices, this may be their way of giving slider aficionados some love. Mmmm sliders...

BlackBerry leap advert focuses on startups and young professionals

The BlackBerry Leap, which was revealed earlier at MWC in Barcelona, seems to have been developed with entrepreneurs and startup-fixated professionals in mind. All the features of all-day productivity, security and flexibility plus an understated yet serious design show that this handset was created with a very specific market in mind. The loyalists have their Classic, the CEO's have their Passport and now the maverick startup dudes have the Leap. The BlackBerry Leap also comes with a variety of very interesting accessories including a Sync Pod dock as well as a new Flex Shell case that doubles as a stand for video conferencing.

Pebble announces Pebble Time in Steel, modular smartstraps

 

Coming from a successful launch of its well-received Pebble Time coloured smartwatch, Pebble today revealed it would be offering a steel variant called the Pebble Time Steel which is coming in July.

The company also announced modular smartstraps system for developers to create accessory straps that would bring additional functionality to the Pebble Time such as increased battery life of more than a week, hear rate monitor, an NFC chip for payments, keyless car remote, or various others built into easily removable straps.
