Apple Pay mobile payments to begin on October 20

Apple announced today that with some 500 new banking partners, it would launch the Apple Pay mobile payments system in the US on Monday October 20th. Apple says that , "Apple Pay offers an easy, secure and private way to pay using Touch ID on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in stores and within apps. Users of the just-announced iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 will be able to use Touch ID on their devices for Apple Pay within apps. The new service will be enabled by a free update to iOS 8 which is coming on Monday as well.

Apple launches 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display starting at $2,749

Apple today unveiled a 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display, featuring 14.7 million pixels, the new iMacs feature the latest quad-core processors, high-performance graphics, Fusion Drive and Thunderbolt 2 technologies. The iMac with 5K Retina Display is available today with a 3.5 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.9 GHz, AMD Radeon R9 M290X graphics and a 1TB Fusion Drive for a suggested retail price of $2,749 (CAD)

First look at the Apple iPad Air 2

Cupertino- Apple today announced the iPad Air 2 which features a second generation 64-Bit Apple A8X processor as well as an M8 co-processor and improved graphics performance while being 18 per cent thinner than its predecessor. The new iPad Air also brings iOS 8.1 into the mainstream as well as many of the continuity capabilities between iOS and Mac OS X Yosemite devices. Also new is the Touch ID which enables fingerprint ID verification online Apple Pay transactions.

Mac OS 10 Yosemite available today for free

The latest version of Apple's Mac OS X operating system (10.10) Yosemite is now available for download or upgrade. Yosemite is one of the biggest and most expansive updates to Apple's desktop and notebook operating system which brings various new features and functionalities. Most notable are Continuity and Handoff features that allow access to various features of a paired iPhone (transferring calls, continuing work started on the desktop to a mobile device, ability to use an iPhone as a hotspot automatically).
