New BlackBerry BB10 handsets Passport and Classic are unapologetically enterprise focused

Image from Crackberry.com

The future of BlackBerry is enterprise and nowhere is this clearer than in the design of their upcoming devices called Classic and Passport. Many consider the BlackBerry Bold line of years past to be the nadir of BlackBerry device design and there's no denying the enduring appeal of the 9900, its stylish lines, leather accents and inlaid frets were  cohesive, purposeful and meant business. Well, that look is back with the Classic and more surprisingly, the Passport which at first glance looks like a Symbian phone but upon closer inspection is a BlackBerry through and through. Interesting to note that BlackBerry has relegated the only full touchscreen device, the Z3, to the more consumer oriented 'emerging markets' segment, namely in Indonesia. What do you think of the Classic and the Passport? Are these smartphones you can see in your future?

Google releases Android stock email app as standalone app for Nexus and Google Play Edition devices

If you’ve been wanting to get your hands on Android’s stock email app and own a Nexus or Google Play Edition device (including HTC One M7 and Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Editions), you can now download the app from Google Play Store. Google has previously released its Google Calendar and keyboard apps so we’re not as surprised that this app is turned into a standalone app. This email app comes preinstalled with Android 4.4 KitKat.

Microsoft releases Surface Pro 3 update ahead of official release

While Microsoft will officially release the Surface Pro 3 tomorrow, the tech company wants to make sure the hardware and software are both working fine. The device is receiving a bunch of performance updates as well as a fix for a power button issue that has been plaguing some devices. Microsoft seems to be so gung-ho about this new tablet that they even sent engineers to the home of Penny Arcade’s Mike Krahulik to take a look into the feedback he gave about the pen input of the device. We’re not sure Microsoft will head to your residence if you find any issues or have any suggestions about the Surface Pro 3 but we’re willing to bet they would be listening.

BBM set to land on Windows Phone this July

Looks like BBM fans on the Windows Phone platform are set to get the messaging app soon. According to the company’s CEO John Chen, the app will be making its way to the Microsoft mobile operating system this July. Chen announced this during BlackBerry’s earnings call. He, however, did not specify the date so we can’t say it will alive early or late in the month. Of course we’d want it sooner rather than later but we’ll take what we can get.
