Samsung creates a smart bike concept to keep you connected, make rides safer

Samsung Smart Bike from Samsung Maestros Academy on Vimeo.

We’re slowly seeing the rise of smart cars making their way out of various OEMs. But Samsung is hoping to make bicycles safer and more connected with a new concept they designed with Maestros Academy, a design academy they co-founded. The smart bike concept comes with lasers that project onto the road in order to create visibility for those around you. The idea is to let the other vehicles around you know you are there. You also get a rear-facing camera to give a look at what’s behind you without having to look back.

You can also mount your Samsung smartphone at the center of the handlebars while you ride. And you would want to do that because an Arduino computer will be working with your device to track your rides, discover who else is riding in your area, and share anything you want to. The bike is meant to highlight the best in Italian design. And as much as we’d like to see a lot of these on the streets, unfortunately there are currently no plans to commercially manufacture the smart bike.

LG tipped to release a souped-up version of the G3

The LG G3 hasn’t even reached this side of the world yet and already there are rumours that the flagship device will get a variant that is carrying a more powerful processor. The South Korean tech company will reportedly swap the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with a Snapdragon 805 processor and pair it with an Adreno 420 graphics processor. Benefits of this swap will include increasing gaming capabilities and snappier operation as well as added support for 4K video. A new modem will also bring theoretical download speeds of 225Mbps over 802.11ac Wi-Fi. We can’t confirm the veracity of the rumour at the moment so best assume we’ll be getting the flagship in its current state. If we find out anything more, then we will let you know.
