Amazon adds Audible into the Kindle app

Would you like to be able to switch between reading an ebook to listening to an audiobook seamlessly? Amazon has updated its Android and iOS app to do just that. Amazon introduced Whispersync for Voice in its Kindle app to put together Kindle ebooks and Audible titles with Amazon’s one-click Matchmaker service. It will cost you as little as US$0.99 per title or around $3.99 if the title is a bestseller. This feature is available for over 45,000 titles.

Xiaomi poised to enter North American market in 2015

While the Chinese tech brand Xiaomi might not be too familiar to ordinary people, tech enthusiasts know this brand as manufacturers of affordable but powerful smartphones in Asia. And it would seem they would make their way to this side of the planet in the coming year. According to former Google executive and now Global Vice President for Xiaomi Hugo Barra, the company is working on entering the North American market next year. They aren’t focusing on it at the moment because they are trying to enter 10 other markets this year. We will keep you posted for any updates on this matter.

Nintendo introduces steampunk-themed game for 3DS

Nintendo is bringing a new steampunk-themed game to the 3DS next year. The game is called Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. and will be a turn-based strategy title. It is said to take advantage of the touchscreen of the console and have shooter elements integrated as well to boost attacks and movements in the game. The characters will reportedly run on steam and help them perform attacks but these will be available in a limited number. And character designs are said to be inspired by comic book artists Jack Kirby and Bruce Timm.

Video: A look at Parrot's amazing new remote controlled MiniDrones

I just came from Parrot's MiniDrone event where they launched their new Remote Controlled MiniDrones the Jumping Sumo, Rolling Spider and Parrot Bebop which are the latest generation of devices which can be controlled by tablets and smartphones. The MiniDrones are expected to come to market in August. Jumping Sumo, which also features an integrated camera, will cost $179.99 and the Rolling Spider is expected to cost around $199.99 in Canada.
