Review: Hyundai Santa Fe XL 2014

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

What do SUV’s become when they grow up? The answer is that they become something like Hyundai’s Santa Fe XL.

The top-of-the line Santa Fe XL (starting at $31,000) is an All Wheel Drive 7-seater that offers an abundance of conveniences, safety features and various niceties that are clearly focused on the driver and passengers.

A lot of people choose SUV’s because they have to. An expanding family, a growing list of activities and social obligations and the need for reliable, economical transportation usually results in a number of compromises. Now, when you’re thinking of such a vehicle in Canada, the range of weather and driving conditions and the need to offer the safest, most reliable feature set that can adapt to the harsh winter is an even bigger consideration.

SlideShow: A look inside Pinterest's San Francisco office

Text and photos by Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

We visited Pinterest's offices today in San Francisco to learn more about their goals, approach and innovation (stay tuned for a more comprehensive story on this original internet and mobile player). Part of the visit was a tour of their office and facilities. Housed in a restored warehouse, Pinterest's open-type offices are replete with interesting installations, employee-made art and various spots that make working and kicking back a lot more fun than a traditional office.

i've always been fascinated by the offices of highly creative technology companies. Aside from the perks they give their employees, it's interesting to see how the culture and character of a company is revealed by its interiors, common areas and quirky installations. Pinterest's office looks like an awesome place to work.

Samsung debuts 7-inch Galaxy W device in South Korea

We’re not quite sure why the model for the Samsung Galaxy W is holding up the device to his ear. Perhaps, Samsung is trying to market its new 7-inch device as a phone but we’d like to think this screen size has crossed over to tablet territory already. The Galaxy W is known by some as the Galaxy Mega 7.0. It, unfortunately, only has a 720p HD display but it has other good features working for it including a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 1.5GB RAM, 16GB internal storage with expansion via microSD, and an 8-megapixel rear camera. We’re not sure why Samsung opted to put Android 4.3 Jelly Bean though instead of Android 4.4 KitKat. It also comes with a massive 3500mAh battery. But we think this will just be adequate for the rather large display.

The Galaxy W is available in South Korea for around US$490. We’re not yet sure if or when this device will make its way to our shores though.
