Overview: New and improved Moto G with 4G-LTE

Text and photos by Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

The Moto G was already a decent smartphone in that it brought great performance and an almost Pure Android user experience to what was an incredibly affordable and accessible entry-level smartphone. For 2014, Motorola's moved the Moto G up a tier and made it a midrange model. Basic specs are the same, but the Moto G now sports faster 4G-LTE data speeds, the ability for expansion via a microSD card slot and some of the software refinements that were unique to the Moto X.

AirCastLive app transforms Roku boxes into video and photo sharing services for Father's Day

A new promo from Roku and AirCastLive are running through this Father's Day that will let you use your smartphone to send or exchange video messages with Dad using your Roku or other STB.
Roku is offering $10 off of a Roku 3 for Dad, while AirCastLive is making its app - normally $5 - available for free from June 9 through June 16.

AirCastLive is an app that turns your Roku (or Google TV) into something more than just a streaming media box - it's now a way to instantly send and share video or photos with friends and family. Families can easily share video they've taken with their smartphones and immediately send it to Dad (or themselves) to view on a larger "life size" screen - much more preferable for important events.

Broadcom develops new chip capable of letting phones charge using any wireless charger

Wireless charging isn’t as ubiquitous as we’d want it to be, largely because of extremely fragmented standards. There are different companies that provide the technologies, including Qi, PMA, and Rezence, and there is no indication which one will last. Broadcom has found a solution for that with a new chip its introducing. The BCM59350 is designed to charge your devices using any of these existing wireless technologies. The chip also supports up to 7.5W of power (instead of the usual 5W), which means it can charge your devices faster, too.

Broadcom has kept mum about which manufacturers plan to use the chip and when it will be available out on the market. We can just hope it comes out real soon to help make charging an even more painless process.
