Tesla Supercharger network to open up for other EVs in Canada

Tesla is expanding its Supercharger network to other electric vehicle (EV) brands in Canada as part of a government initiative to make EV charging more accessible and convenient. The company will open up some of its existing Superchargers to non-Tesla EVs later this year, starting with a pilot route between Ottawa and Sudbury. By the end of 2025, there will be 750 open Superchargers across the country, including at least 350 high-speed 250kW stations. These will enable long-distance travel for EV drivers, as the open Supercharger route will cover a large portion of the Trans-Canada Highway between Ottawa and Calgary.

The move comes as the Canadian government announced a plan to install nearly 3,000 EV chargers in various locations, such as multi-use residential buildings, offices, public places, and fleets. The government is partnering with various organizations to fund five ongoing projects that will add up to 1,328 EV chargers, including 100 Level 3 fast chargers.

Bing AI Chat adds voice chat to desktop search

GIF: Microsoft

Voice chat is a common way to interact with mobile devices, but not so much with desktop computers. Bing wants to change that by bringing voice chat to its desktop search interface. You can now talk to Bing on your PC or laptop using a microphone and hear its responses through speakers or headphones.

Bing voice chat on desktop supports five languages: English, French, German, Japanese, and Mandarin. Microsoft will add more languages soon. You can switch languages easily by clicking on the language icon in the chat box. Bing is the first major search engine to offer AI and voice chat on mobile and desktop platforms. This makes searching the web more convenient and engaging for users across devices.

VPN apps are a convenient way to connect to a virtual private network (VPN) on iOS and macOS devices, but Apple TV has been missing this feature until now. With tvOS 17, which will be released later this year, Apple will enable developers to create VPN apps for Apple TV and distribute them through the Apple TV App Store. Apple announced tvOS 17 at its WWDC 2023 keynote on Monday but did not mention the VPN support during the presentation. However, the company revealed more details about the new feature on its website.
