Nexus 5 gets 8 out of 10 for repairability from iFixit

The LG-made Google Nexus 5, which was launched last week and has started to ship, has been torn down by iFixit in the name of science and discovery. Their findings? The Nexus 5 is quite easy to open up, service and repair. This is thanks to a modular design and more screws and less glue. Good news for technicians who have to repair or replace components in these bad boys in the future.

Updated Google Now for iOS accepts voice queries, gets new functionality

You can now say "Ok Google," to your iOS device if you have the latest version of the Google Now intelligent personal assistant and search gateway app. The latest version ports over functionality that has been enjoyed in the Android version. iOS users can now get event tickets, flight updates, car rental reservations and public transit info through Google Now. Apple bolsters 'Made in USA' initiative with new sapphire glass factory, 2,000 new jobs

Apple is making good on its promise to bring more jobs to the USA. A new sapphire glass factory is set to open in Arizona and will reportedly bring 2,000 new jobs. Sapphire glass is used in a number of Apple products, most notably to protect the lenses of the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices. This follows Apple's commitment to assembling the new Mac Pro in Texas.

“The multi-year agreement, which was reported by MacRumors, includes a $580 million prepayment that will get paid back to Apple over five years starting in 2015, and requires that GT maintains a minimum level of manufacturing capacity.” The new jobs are mostly in engineering, manufacturing and construction in nature.
