YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki steps down

After almost 25 years with the company, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki is stepping down from her role in the company. Neal Mohan, who has served as YouTube's chief product officer, will replace her. Wojcicki said she'll assist with the leadership transition and take on an advisory role across Alphabet in the long term.

Wojcicki was one of Google's earliest employees, where she even rented out her garage to co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin when they were building the search giant in the late 1990s. She was appointed CEO of YouTube in 2014 and served as Google's senior vice president of advertising before.

Apple TV+'s new climate change drama draws big stars

Apple's pulling out all of the stop with its new drama series, Extrapolations. The eight-episode series explores the near-future impacts climate change has on the planet. The first trailer for the show debuting on March 17 shows a star-studded cast. Among the stars featured in the show include Meryl Streep, Sienna Miller, Kit Harington, Daveed Diggs, Edward Norton, Yara Shahidi, Matthew Rhys, Gemma Chan, David Schwimmer, Keri Russell, Marion Cotillard, Forest Whitaker, Tobey Maguire and Murray Bartlett.

Contagion writer and An Inconvenient Truth producer Scott Z. Burns created the show. The first three episodes will drop on March 17, with the remaining five coming out on a weekly basis.

Google starts rollout of Calendar spam protection

A nuisance that started rolling out on Google Calendar recently finally gets a new fix. Google started rolling out a new enabled-by-default spam filter. The system will automatically detect calendar invites sent to your Gmail address. If they see it's from someone you've never communicated with, it will block the invitations. You can revisit the email invite, respond to it, and add it to your calendar. If you're unclear if you have this new feature, Google has been sending out an email on top of the pop-up that shows up in the app.
