New XBox 360 Dashboard gets spiced up with Metro Interface

 

Microsoft looks to be unifying the look, feel and user experience across its Windows Phone, Windows 8 and now XBox 360 Dashboard with the Metro look. Originating from the Zune music player, Metro's live tiles and slick design functionality seems to be ideal for touch control or, in the case of XBox, for Kinect control. The new dashboard is expected to come via update on December 6.

The Apple Beat: Apple's post Samsung future Sharpens

There have been signs, some subtle and some obvious, that Apple is ready to move away from Samsung as a major supplier of components, displays, memory and storage. Apple has tapped other manufacturers like Sharp, TMSC (for the A5 processor successor) and others to secure components for its product line going forward.

The writing is on the wall. The legal battle between Apple and Samsung is vast and encompasses various countries and focuses on a number of technologies affecting smartphones, computers and most importantly, tablets.

McAfee: Android OS primary target for malware

This is something that security software companies have been telling us for some time now, that the open nature of Google's mobile Android OS is making it an easy target for malware. McAfee confirmed as much in its latest report.

The report stated that the amount of malware targeted at Android devices jumped nearly 37 percent since last quarter, and puts 2011 on track to be the busiest in mobile and general malware history.  Nearly all new mobile malware in Q3 was targeted at Android.
