Roller coaster rides in the US trigger the iPhone 14's crash detection

While reviewers have gotten creative about testing the new crash detection feature on Apple's iPhone 14 and Apple Watch devices, some users are unexpectedly testing out the feature simply by getting on amusement park rides. Wall Street Journal reported instances when the iPhone 14 in the US triggered the car crash detection feature after their owners got on roller coasters. WSJ's Joanna Stern has shared some of the audio recordings on Twitter of the automated voice messages the emergency services were getting from these devices. The message is repeated seven times in a call. And the feature picks up background audio from the scene.

Some users have also reported having their iPhones make 911 calls after the phone was dropped while driving or right after. The crash detection feature uses a combination of sensor data to assess a possible crash. If it detects one, you'll get a warning on the screen for 10 seconds. It then starts a 10-second countdown accompanied by an alarm sound. After it's done with the countdown, your iPhone or Apple Watch will call emergency services and offer location details. If you added an emergency contact, the devices will send them a text.

EA's new PC app replaces Origin platform

Source: EA

EA is replacing its Origin app with one bearing its name. This move was announced about two years ago, and we're now seeing it take effect. The new app is expected to offer a "faster, more reliable, and more streamlined gaming experience." It gets features like automatic game downloads and background updates.

PC gamers still using Origin will "soon" get an invite to switch over. And EA says when you receive it, your games, content, saves, and friend list will be available in the EA app. If you don't want to wait for the invite, you can download the app from EA's website. Meanwhile, macOS players will still use the Origin app for now. EA hasn't shared a timeline for when the app will be available for them.
