Google confirms the Nest Cam and Doorbell won't charge in freezing weather

Source: Google

Don't subject the battery-equipped Nest Doorbell and Cam to extreme cold weather. Google recently published a support document saying the lithium-ion battery in the Google Nest Doorbell and Cam won't charge at "temperatures below freezing." The company said the battery versions of this device can work at temperatures as low as minus four degrees Fahrenheit/minus 20 degrees Celsius, but the batteries must have a charge in them. Google also warns that the batteries might drain faster in cold weather, potentially halved when the devices are near their operating limit.

Google recommends you bring in the Nest Doorbell and Cam indoors in these situations. The warmer the battery gets, the faster it will charge. The Home app can let you know when to bring in the device. It'll display a notice that says "Charging paused" or "Charging slowly," with a lengthy estimated charging time. You should bring it in when you see that.

Amazon Studios has a show based on Bethesda's Fallout coming out in the future. The studio said it planned to kick off production later this year. We get a casting update for the video game adaptation. Actor Walton Goggins joins the cast in one of its lead roles. Amazon hasn't revealed what role he'll play, but reports claim he could play a ghoul. In Fallout parlance, this refers to someone who mutated due to radiation exposure from the nuclear war.

The series was announced back in 2020, and it looks like things are finally picking up. Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy of Westworld fame are behind the production, with Nolan directing the pilot. Executive producers of the show include Bethesda's Todd Howard, the game director of Fallout 3 and Fallout 4.
