Daan Tech's Bob mini dishwasher can clean dishes, zap bacteria
Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 6:42AM A mini dishwasher might not make the biggest splash at CES (pun unintended), but it does prove to be a useful addition to a rental apartment, on the road in an RV, or at sea in a boat. The applications are broader than expected for Daan Tech's Bob mini dishwasher. The French company first showcased Bob as a prototype at CES. But now, Daan Tech plans to ship Bob in most countries this year. It's available for pre-order at a discounted price over at the company's site. It retails for US$299 and has a late Summer 2022 estimated delivery schedule.
What makes Bob so unique? It has an integrated water tank that doesn't require any hookups. You just pour water from a bottle, jug, faucet, etc., and it's ready to clean. At 22 pounds, it's easy to move around, and he uses around a gallon of water, at least depending per cycle. It has enough room to wash dishes for a complete dinner set of two people.
Pixar's 'Turning Red' will premiere on Disney+ instead of in theatres
Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 1:43AM Instead of a theatrical release, Pixar's Turning Red will "premiere exclusively in homes worldwide," at least in countries where Disney+ is available, on March 11. Disney recently announced the change. You won't need to get Premier Access to watch the film. All Disney+ subscribers can watch the new Pixar animation.
Spider-Man: No Way Home may have broken box office records less than a month ago. But, as The Verge pointed out, a spike in COVID-19 cases brought about by the omicron variant and the lacklustre performance of other films could see some moves like Turning Red making streaming premieres again.

Aside from home entertainment updates, CES is also about laptops. One of the new updates from Dell is a new look to its XPS 13 laptop. The latest XPS 13 Plus gets a new keyboard look that flattens the keys into the body, and the large haptic trackpad takes up the area across the bottom of the keyboard. The capacity keys are now in a touch bar-like design above the keyboard, which the company says takes up less space and offers more room for thermals that help keep the air flowing and the system cool.
There are two up-firing speakers underneath the keyboard, which should come in handy when you're watching your favourite shows on the 13.4-inch InfinityEdge display. Dell offers up to 4K resolution configurations with OLED and touchscreen options, too. The screen also gets Eyesafe technology to help reduce harmful blue light coming from the display. The 4K options are DisplayHDR certified. There is a 720p webcam at the top of the screen. Actually, this laptop gets two cameras: an RGB one and an IR for better quality and resolution.
