2010 has been all about Google's Android OS and the deluge of handsets that have hit the Canadian market and the the rest of the world. Looking back at the very first Android phone, the T-Mobile G1 and its then infant OS and comparing it to the rich and often confusing tapestry of Android devices in the market now, Google has sure come a long way.

At the recent IFA 2010, Samsung showcased the world's first LTE-HSPA+ dual mode netbook, the Samsung N350. With specs and features akin to most modern netbooks such as a 10'1-inch screen and dual-core Intel Atom N550, the Samsung N350 will feature a 6 hour battery as well. Google's Android OS is gaining an incredible amount of momentum and as a result 200,000 phones are being sold every day. Google CEO Eric Schmidt noted that this was double the 100,000 units sold per day just two months ago. “Android is not just phenomenal but incredibly phenomenal in its growth rate.”

Samsung Mobile announced the availability of the Samsung Wave (model: S8500), which we previewed weeks ago. This is the first smartphone to leverage bada, Samsung’s new, open smartphone platform. The Samsung Wave is the first Canadian smartphone to feature Samsung’s ultra-clear Super AMOLED screen technology.
