Acer has dropped a whole bunch of hardware including the largest Chromebook laptop at 15.6-inches in the Chromebook Spin 15, which is a convertible 2-in-1 device.  The Acer Swift (pictured above) is a striking notebook that features a 15-inch display but weighs only 2.2 pounds and is ultra-thin.

“There’s  been  great feedback  on  Acer’s  amazingly  light  14-inch  Swift  5 and  we  are  now  pushing the  limits  with  the  15.6-inch  model,”  said  Jerry  Hou,  General  Manager,  Consumer  Notebooks,  IT  Products  Business,  Acer  Inc.

Also announced were a slew of gaming PCs including the Predator Helios and Orion lines.

Acer outs Predator X27, a 4K, HDR, and G-Sync monitor

Acer’s Predator gaming brand is throwing a bone to desktop gamers with its newest monitor. And by bone, we mean all the latest tech it could. The Preador X27 4K monitor doesn’t just feature a true 3,840 x 2,160 resolution. It also has NVIDIA’s G-Sync tech, a graphics card and screen synchronization tech. On top of this, it has full 10-bit HDR support.

But that isn’t all. This 27-inch monitor also has a 144Hz refresh rate, 1,000 nits of brightness (which is a big deal since most HDR screens max out at 600 nits), and 99 percent coverage of the Adobe RGB colors spectrum. This comes at a pretty price, though. It’s available on preorder on Newegg for US$2,000 and will launch on June 1st.

Review: Acer Nitro 5 gaming notebook

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

I received an Acer Nitro 5 review unit for purpose of reviewing the Acer Windows Mixed Reality headset and controllers. The Acer Nitro 5 features the latest 8th generation Intel processors, a minimum requirement for mixed reality VR playback and control.

Gaming laptops have rarely appealed to me. They're usually bigger, heavier and hardly portable, but they do offer desktop class performance as well as stunning graphics capability.

The industrial design of the Acer Nitro 5 is quite muted compared to many of the outrageous and amped up designs we see from many competing gaming notebooks. The cherry red accents over the metal and matte black case make this a striking device nonetheless. Hit jump for my full impressions.
