Android Wear smartwatches might get iPhone support

It’s so far from confirmed but rumours are swirling that Android Wear devices might get support for the iPhone. Sources for French outlet 01net claim that Google is “preparing to launch” Android Wear app on iOS as a third-party app. If this were true, that would need a bit more work since this won’t be an Android-to-Android connection. But again, no one at Mountain View is confirming nor outright denying the rumour. We just have to wait and see if you can head out and buy that new Huawei or LG smartwatch for yourself.

Huawei Watch earns early accolades at MWC

Huawei was expected to make an impact at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona with some forward thinking smartphones and phablets. The emerging giant has instead impressed both press and analysts with a duo of wearable devices. 

The premium-looking Huawei Watch is undoubtedly the most luxurious Android Wear device on the market and is currently the sexiest looking smartwatch in the market right now. Huawei has settled on a 42mm round face featuring a 286 ppi 1.4-inch AMOLED touchscreen. Available in over 20 countries, including Canada when it ships in mid-June, Huawei Watch will be sold in gold, silver and black with an assortment of straps and 40 custom watchfaces. Pricing was not revealed.

Huawei aiming for the luxury Android smartwatch segment

After slyly teasing its upcoming Android Wear smartwach in various airport advertisements and videos, emerging monile giant Huawei looks to be gearing up to make a splash in the Android Wear smartwatch game with its luxury. Titled the Huawei Watch, Huawei's first salvo is a circular watch that boasts a sapphire crystal covering the touch display plus the use of a lot of lavish leather and metal materials. We're a day away from Huawei's press conference in Mobile World Congress and we should learn more about pricing, availability an whether any features of Huawei Watch will separate it from the pack.

Extending functionality of smartwatches further is a new app for Android Wear. PaperWear will let you read top news articles right on the device. It pulls articles from sites like Medium.com, qz.com, Vox.com, etc. and it refreshes content every 12 hours to keep you updated. If reading gets a bit challenging, you can prompt it to save the article to be read later, which means you can read it right on your smartphone.
