How to watch today's Microsoft Build Keynotes

Ever evolving and transforming, Microsoft is slated to kick off its Build 2018 Developers Conference back home in Seattle today. As the company reshapes to tackle its next areas of focus, today's keynotes will be indicative of the company's future focus. Expect to hear more about AI, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, App Development and of course, the future of Windows, Surface Devices and Windows on ARM.

Microsoft is livestreaming a number of its sessions, including its day one keynote that starts at 8:30 am PT here.

iPhone X sales defy Wall Street projections as Apple posts $61.1 billion quarterly revenue

Apple held its second quarter earnings call yesterday and dispelled any notions that the iPhone, it's most profitable product line, is slowing down in sales. The big surprise was that it was the iPhone X, which is the company's most innovative product and also its most expensive, was the bestseller for the quarter.

“We’re thrilled to report our best March quarter ever, with strong revenue growth in iPhone, Services and Wearables,” said CEO Tim Cook. “Customers chose iPhone X more than any other iPhone each week in the March quarter, just as they did following its launch in the December quarter. We also grew revenue in all of our geographic segments, with over 20% growth in Greater China and Japan.”

Amazon's new Vancouver office to bring 3,000 jobs, vote of confidence in Canadian talent

There was huge news coming out of Vancouver yesterday as Amazon announced it is opening a new office that will employ 3,000 Canadians bringing Amazon's Canadian workforce to over 9,000 by 2020.

This is a huge vote of confidence in Canada and the Vancouver area.  Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, welcomed Amazon’s announcement that it will create 3,000 new jobs in Vancouver. Combined with the 1,000 new jobs announced by Amazon in November 2017.

Amazon, which is based out of Seattle, Washington, a neighbour to Vancouver with similar climate, is the third most valuable company with a market capitalization to $702.46 billion.

Samsung to release 128 GB and 256 GB versions of the Galaxy S9 and S9 +

Samsung is bringing larger capacity versions of the Samsung galaxy S9 and S9 + smartphones to the US this month. With 128GB and 256GB of storage, these new variants will be available for preorder on Samsung.com starting on May 1 and will start shipping by May 18. No news yet on whether these models will be sold in Canada.
