Microsoft announces Windows 10 April 2018 Update coming to PCs on May 8

Microsoft is announcing that it will make the Windows 10 April 2018 Update available for download on May 8th. The latest update to Windows 10 introduces a Timeline features which makes it possible for users to find files they previously worked on easily.

The new update also has a Focus Assist feature designed to block out distractions and keep workers on track. Dictation has also been improved so users can write notes and even dictate longer documents by speaking. Microsoft Edge browser has also been improved and can automatically mute tabs that autoplay content.

As a Windows Insider, I've been playing around with the latest build and, while not as dramatically different from the Fall Creator's Update, I did notice some improvements and visual flourishes in certain aspects of the OS.

Target looking to add 600 new EV chargers in more than 100 locations in the US

Target is going all-in on supporting Hybrid and EV vehicles with the announcement that it will be adding 600 new EV chargers in the next 2 years which will be distributed across 100 sites in 20 states in the US. This gives drivers of electric vehicles a viable option to top up their cars while they are shopping.

In order to roll out the EV chargers, Target has partnered with varied charging providers for the project, including Electrify America and Target's current partners ChargePoint and Tesla.  Adding EV chargers is part of Target's carbon reduction initiative. This includes the use of wind and solar power for some of its energy needs, with plans to have rooftop solar panels at 500 stores by 2020. Eventually, Target aims to source 100 percent of its energy needs from renewable sources.

Surface Pro 4 now gains Surface Dial on-screen support

Microsoft is giving some love to the venerable Surface Pro 4. This 2-in-1 PC can now use the Surface Dial as an on screen accessory. Surfae Dial was already supported by all Surface devices, including Surface Pro 4, but the latest update allows creatives to prop the dial on their Surface Pro display for more immersive control.

“We’ve released new updates for Surface Pro 4 devices,” Microsoft’s Brandon Records announced last night. “These updates include new drivers for Surface Dial Detection, Surface Digitizer Integration, Surface Touch, and Surface Touch Servicing ML which enable on-screen support for Surface Dial and resolve certain ghost/phantom touch issues.” Update should be rolling out shortly via Windows 10's Software Update.
