Fujifilm Canada hosted a Media Backyard BBQ at the Mississauga head office today to demonstrate it's latest retro-inspired premium ILC (Interchangeable Lens Camera) the X-M1. The 16 megapixel camera takes X-system lenses and also intoduces the X-Trans CMOS Sensor and EXR PROCESSOR II for DSLR-type quality in a compact body.
Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 3:26PM Samsung seems very committed to Windows 8 and has released a bevy of ATIV branded portables and even an all-in-one desktop. One of the more intriguing devices we've seen in the ATIV Q which is a tablet-first hybrid that converts to a notebook once you flip out the built in QWERTY keyboard. Sporting one of the highest resolution screens (qHD+ display with 3200 x 1800 resolution) as well as all the ports and features one would expect from a $1500.00 premium device. The ATIV Q was supposed to have dual-boot capability to run both Android and Windows 8 but the device demoed in the video above was purely Windows 8. Expect the ATIV Q to come to Canada in August.

I've recently discovered a number of iOS apps that are so sublimely designed in terms of look, feel and function that they have given me renewed hope that we will be experiencing a renaissance in great app functionality.
Designing any smartphone app is hard, but taking stock of what everyone else has done before and creating a new and exciting way to push information to users is what makes great apps stick out. In the rush to be competitive, be first on the market, or get something shipped at whatever the cost, results in humdrum apps that lose their lustre right away.

Nokia's impressive HERE + navigation app will soon be made available to all compatible Windows Phones, which gives owners of these devices one of the better in-device navigation options good for travel in various countries.
"With the global release of HERE Drive+ for all Windows Phone 8 devices we will further extend our HERE business and deliver on our promise of making HERE experiences available for as many people as possible. The more people are using our location offering the better it will get for everyone," said Thom Brenner, vice president, Windows Phone applications, HERE. "At the same time this release also demonstrates our commitment to further strengthen the Windows Phone ecosystem with our maps assets."
Entry level Nokia Lumias and other Windows Phone devices will need to pay 15.49€ for the priviledge which is under $22.
