Tinder wants you to set dating expectations with Relationship Goals

Tinder recently introduced a new feature on its platform to help users show their intentions for being on the dating app. Relationship Goals have rolled out in the US, but they'll be available globally by January 5. It lets you say whether you're looking for a friend, hookup, or long-term partner. There are six options you can choose from Long-term partner; Long-term, Open to short; Short-term, Open to long; Short-term fun; New Friends; or Still figuring it out.

While Tinder was typically seen as a more casual kind of dating app, its users have started to look for more. According to Tinder's 2022 Year in Swipe report, 73% of users aged 18-25 want someone clear about what they want.

Bumble dating app brings Ted Lasso's Bantr to life

Bumble, the women-first dating and social networking app, has recently partnered with Apple’s global hit Emmy Award-winning comedy Ted Lasso to let members experience Bantr, the fictitious dating app featured on the show.

A weekly Bantr Live experience will be available free of charge in Bumble’s Date Mode and people on Bumble can RSVP directly within the app.

Samsung wants to set you up on a date using its ref

Is Tinder, Bumble, or your dating app of choice just not doing it for you anymore? Have you considered "Refrigerdating?" Yes, that is the app's name. And yes, it is what you think it is. Samsung's way to promote its Family Hub Refrigerator is by aiming for your heart through your bellies (good or bad choices be damned). The ref has an ingredient-tracking camera that can double check if you run out of certain items, and you can use that camera to take photos of your ref's content. You can access these photos and the web-based app through its built-in touchscreen.  From there you can start swiping left and right on potential dates. You don't need to have this Samsung ref to use the app. You can upload a photo of your own refrigerator, and watch the sparks fly. Or at least, that's the hope. Happy swiping!

Dating app helps you find people who look like your favorite celebrity

Dating apps have their own gimmicks to have you choose them over the many others out there. A UK-based dating app has a funny/creepy new feature, depending on who you ask. Badoo now has a “lookalike” feature, which basically lets you search for someone based on who they resemble. If you can’t date Tom Hiddleston, who says that you can’t date someone who looks like him? The app will let you upload the photo of whomever you want and it uses image recognition technology to find you similar-looking faces. Badoo’s tech identifies 160 facial features like eyebrows, hair color, chin size, etc. and takes those details and assigns a unique number of combinations to each face. It’ll then find you the best matches among the millions of images on the app. Badoo also comes preloaded with some recognizable faces, like Jake Gyllenhaal. And since you can link your Facebook account, you can look for people from your own life.
