Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro will reportedly launch on September 19th

If we're going to take the word of one of Huawei's executives, we're going to see the next iteration of the Mate series soon. New reports claim that the Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro will launch as early as September 19. During a briefing session on the EMUI 10 at the Huawei Developers Conference, Huawei's Consumer Business Software President Dr. Wang Chenglu said that the Kirin 990 chipset and the two phones will launch in Europe on September 19. But the veracity of this information needs to be checked, though. Even Huawei's employees sometimes aren't on the ball with information like these.

But what Dr. Chenglu said seemingly confirms that the two phones will launch with the Kirin 990 chipset. Other rumours about the phones claim that the Mate 30 will have two 40-megapixel camera sensors in a circular camera array at the back and sport a 90Hz display.

Huawei Mate 30 Pro will reportedly up the camera game

Huawei's next major flagship, the Mate 30 Pro, is highly anticipated by smartphone fans. And one of the biggest things about the phone will be its camera setup. New leaks about the phone cite the three advanced specs for the camera. According to @Rodent950 on Twitter, the phone will have a 40MP 1/1.5" sensor with f/1.6 - f/1.4 aperture, RYYB pixel layout and Cine lens (for videos), 40MP 1/1.7" 120-degree ultra-wide lens with Cine lens, and an 8MP telephoto 5x zoom lens. Famous leaker Ice Universe corroborates the claim by saying the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 "has no chance of beating [the] Mate30 Pro in terms of camera hardware." The larger sensors being pegged for this phone signals Huawei taking cues from the likes of the old Nokia Lumia 1020 of having large high-resolution sensors to achieve the best picture quality.

Other rumoured specs of the phone include a new edge-to-edge waterfall screen, HiSilicon Kirin 985 processor, integrated 5G modem, 55W fast-charging support, and 10W wireless reverse charging support.

Huawei tweaks yet-to-be-launched foldable Mate X device

Huawei has delayed the release of the Mate X, and it looks like the company is busy tweaking the foldable device ahead of its launch. Chinese journalist Li Wei ran into Huawei CEO Richard Yu at an airport with the CEO was using the Mate X at the time. This provided us with photos of the device.

It now has a carbon fiber look seen around the camera sensors and the hinge. It isn’t clear if it’s actual carbon fiber, but given the premium price point of this device, that is a possibility. There’s also a fourth camera sensor at the back, which the company’s website has previously confirmed to be a Time-of-Flight depth sensor. The button that Huawei uses to unfold the Mate X is now bigger as well with a red accent at the center. What we can’t say yet is if they did any improvements to the OLED display, and whether they’ve been able to deal with the “crease” at the center of the display. But we should find out more details soon as the company is set to launch the foldable device sometime in September.
