Ontario-based dev used her childhood to inspire Strut Type photo app 

Ontario-based app developer Christine Summers of Ultimate Chemistry spent part of her upbringing in a photo darkroom, watching her father, an amateur photographer, play with light effects, shutter speeds, vignettes and different types of canvases. He used what was known as the strut type accordion camera — the world’s first compact, folding camera series popularized by George Eastman in the late 19th century.

There's some real genius to Apple's iOS hardware strategy and how they manage to come up with new devices each year while still benefiting heavily from iPhone models that are two-years-old.

Once could think of it as the ecosystem of inheritance or smart trickle-down logic. By keeping one to two-year-old products current through iOS software updates, Apple makes it possible to extend its user base and keep their products desirable far beyond anyone else in the mobile industry.

Rovio lets Bad Piggies loose on Android and iOS

In an attempt to follow-up the overwhelming success of Angry Birds, Rovio has released Bad Piggies, which is now available on Android and iOS devices. Focusing on the egg-thieving pigs, the new game relies the pigs' engineering and building skills to create devices and contraptions needed to reach specific goals. Bad Piggies shares some elements with Rovio's second but less successful game Amazing Alex. While it doesn't offer the instant gratification of Angry Birds, it does require other parts of your brain to work and is fun in the puzzle sense.
