Apps & Launches: Flipboard comes to iPhone and iPod Touch

One of the best news aggregation and reading apps on the iPad is now available for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

Flipboard elegantly aggregates various feeds, Facebook and Twitter streams as well as curated content and puts it in a stunningly presented and easy to navigate interface. On the iPad, users could scroll sideways just like a magazine but in the iPhone version they now thumb through the content which can be accessed with one hand thanks to the intuitive design. iOS 5.0.1 starts rolling out 

Just in time to fix those bugs affecting battery life reported by some users as well as resolving issues with documents in the cloud, iOS 5.0.1 is now available for download on iPhone and iPod Touches as well as iPads. Simply plug in your devices and go to General>Software Update. The update takes around 10 minutes over WiFi.

GarageBand Now Available for iPhone and iPod touch Users  

Apple today announced that GarageBand is now available for iPhone and iPod touch users. Garageband started out as a desktop application that allowed the use of loops and intruments for anyone to make music. It was then Introduced earlier this year on iPad, GarageBand uses Apple’s revolutionary Multi-Touch interface to make it easy for anyone to create and record their own songs, even if they’ve never played an instrument before.

“GarageBand on iPad has been a big hit and we think customers will love using it on their iPhone or iPod touch,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “The innovative Multi-Touch interface combined with Smart Instruments makes it easy to create great sounding music, even if you’ve never studied music or played an instrument before.”
