First Impressions of the iPad mini

The iPad mini represents a departure from the 9.7-inch tablet market that Apple has defined and dominated. The iPad mini is entering a scattershot mini-tablet market ranging with expensive $500 7-inch Android tablets at one end and cheap $199 eReader at the bottom. But the Fun-Size iPad is clearly in a league of its own as a smaller yet full featured tablet. Here are my very early impressions.

Apple sells 26.9 million iPhones in record 4th quarter revenue and profit

Still buzzing from a slew of huge product announcements last week inclduding the much awaited ipad mini, Apple announced financial results for its fiscal 2012 fourth quarter ending September 29, 2012.

Apple posted quarterly revenue of $36.0 billion and quarterly net profit of $8.2 billion, or $8.67 per diluted share. These results compare to revenue of $28.3 billion and net profit of $6.6 billion, or $7.05 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 40.0 percent compared to 40.3 percent in the year-ago quarter. International sales accounted for 60 percent of the quarter’s revenue.

The Apple Beat: A Promise Fulfilled

Yesterday's Apple Special Event was nothing short of monumental. While most people expected, and got, the iPad mini, Apple really went all out in terms of product refreshes. A new 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display, a stunning new iMac (8 pounds less than the previous version), powerful new Mac minis and an upgraded full-sized iPad.
