‘Avengers: Infinity War’ is the fastest movie to hit US$1 billion mark

Marvel Studios’ most colossal film yet has made history books by becoming the fastest movie to cross the US$1 billion mark in global box office sales this weekend. Disney confirmed the film posted an estimated $275 million in movie ticket sales around the world for its second weekend in theatres. This puts the total global ticket sales at $1.16 billion. The film has now bested 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, which earned $1.15 billion. It also recently broke another Disney franchise’s record. It earned $250 million in the US on its opening weekend, besting the $248 million opening weekend record of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Marvel reportedly met with 65 possible directors for standalone Black Widow movie

Marvel Studios

It seems a standalone Black Widow movie is in our future but Marvel is being “extremely thorough” with it, as tweeted by Variety editor Justin Kroll. Marvel has reportedly met with over 65 directors for the film. His tweet follows a story from Hollywood Reporter claiming Marvel has met with a number of female directors like Deniz Gamze Erguyen (Mustang), Chloe Zhao (The Rider), and Amma Asante (A United Kingdom). But the search seems to still be ongoing. A report back in January claimed Marvel hired TiMER writer Jac Schaeffer to pen the script for the movie. In 2017, Johansson and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige have discussed the film and it’s said the initial talks have been positive. What’s keeping the movie from moving forward is the timing and schedule for both Marvel and Johansson. Perhaps, if Marvel finds a director, it might move forward.

Kevin Feige confirms ‘Black Panther 2’

Marvel/Walt Disney Studios

Seems like a no-brainer that the box office success Black Panther will be getting a sequel. But now we get official world from Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Feige was quoted saying “We absolutely will do that.” But, as expected, he doesn’t reveal any plot secrets. There is a promise that it will flow organically from the first film because the filmmakers have discussed this even while making the first film.

"One of the favorite pastimes at Marvel Studios is sitting around on a part one and talking and dreaming about what we would do in a part two," Feige said. "There have been plenty of those conversations as we were putting together the first 'Black Panther.' We have ideas and a pretty solid direction on where we want to head with the second one."
