OnePlus 7 Pro debuts the new version of OnePlus Camera

OnePlus updates its Camera app for the OnePlus 7 Pro by adding deeper integration with Google Lens and changing up settings in the app. A long press on the viewfinder will trigger the feature and as 9to5Google mentions, it works offline to some extent. Without the long press, you need to turn on the “Smart Content Detection” setting to allow the app to recognize content, which ranges from phone numbers, website, and barcodes and QR codes. A couple of settings have also been taken out. These include Smile Capture and Auto Nightscape Scene Detection. But the aforementioned Smart Content Detection feature has been added alongside Auto Nightscape. You can now also arrange the different camera modes in the slider at the bottom, so you have easy access to the modes you use frequently. You can even turn off some of the modes entirely.

The OnePlus Gallery gets a refresh, too. The Collections Carousel has a cleaner interface with smaller thumbnails and better organization. And the file viewer now shows the date at the top of the user interface and the Favorites icons has been moved to a new location, too. As we mentioned, version 3.2 of the app is currently only available on the OnePlus 7 Pro but expect it to make its way to other OnePlus devices via the Play Store soon.

With the OnePlus 7 Pro set to launch in the next few days, the company has partnered with National Geographic to show what the phone’s cameras can do. The July edition of the magazine will come with an “Inspired by Nature” supplement shot using the phone. The magazine picked three world-renowned photographers—Andy Bardon, Carlton Ward Jr., and Krystle Wright—to document their journey around North America using the OnePlus 7 Pro and its triple-lens setup and UltraShot system. Speaking about her experience on the shoot, Wright said, “With the OnePlus 7 Pro, you have a whole camera bag in your pocket which is what has allowed us to be able to shoot a whole issue on a smartphone.” We’re going to hear more about this phone on May 14 when it launches.

OnePlus 7 series will launch on May 14th

OnePlus is all set to launch its OnePlus 7 series next month. The company will be launching the phones on May 14th at 11 a.m. Eastern Time. There will be simultaneous events in four cities: New York, London, Beijing, and Bangalore. The company is using the tagline, “Go Beyond Speed,” which hints at the possibility that we are getting a 5G version of one of the phones. OnePlus CEO Pete Lao previously said there will be a version of the OnePlus 7 Pro with 5G. He also teased the possibility of the phone getting a display, which rumours claim to have a 90Hz refresh rate. There might also be pop-up selfie cameras, too. OnePlus will be selling tickets to the events, but if you can’t make it in person, you can stream it through the company’s official channels.
