OnePlus 6T launch to happen on Oct. 30

While we’re speculating whether the OnePlus 6T is dropping on October 30, what we do know is the company will launch the phone then. OnePlus just confirmed the launch date on Twitter and on its website, claiming it will be its biggest event ever. Happening at Pier 36 in New York, the livestream will start at 11 a.m. ET (8 a.m. PT) on the company’s site and YouTube channel, so better mark that date and time if you want to check out OnePlus’s newest innovation.

Expect OnePlus 6T to go on sale by October 30

OnePlus hasn’t really been keeping much about the OnePlus 6T under wraps. We already know things like it’ll have an in-display fingerprint scanner, no audio jack, and a 10 percent bigger battery than its predecessor. This time, an Amazon India listing shows the phone will ship before the end of the month—on October 30th. It’s the day when a pre-order offer ends and the phone is expected to ship and start appearing on retailer’s shelves. Whether this extends globally is something we don’t know just yet.

The OnePlus 6T is expected to have a 6.41-inch AMOLED screen with a waterdrop notch. There will be a dual camera setup I the back and the phone is expected to run on Snapdragon 845 with either 6GB or 8GB RAM options. Color options are said to give the phone either a metal or glass panel at the back.

OnePlus CEO confirms the OnePlus 6T won’t support wireless charging

While we’ve seen what the OnePlus 6T could look like and what we can expect, we don’t know all there is about it just yet. But the company’s CEO Pete Lau is willing to talk about what we won’t be seeing this time around: wireless charging. In an interview with CNETLau said the limits of wireless technology and its impact on charging times is the reason why we won’t be seeing it in the company’s newest flagship. Lau boasts of the company’s proprietary fast-charge technology we know as Dash Charge and how wireless charging won’t be able to offer the same experience. That and it would generate a lot of heat and require a thicker device. Lau says they are working to address this limitation but it won’t be coming to this device for now.

OnePlus 6T gets leaked, shows ‘waterdrop’ notch

If you’ve been following international tech news, the look of what’s being said to be the OnePlus 6T is going to be familiar. WinFuture showed off the leak of the full phone and it features what’s being called by OPPO as a waterdrop design for the notch. In case you didn’t know, OnePlus and OPPO share the same parent company and OnePlus as regularly taken design cues from OPPO but altered the branding, specs, and software to appeal to markets beyond what OPPO usually goes after (which includes China and India).

Not much is known about the specs of this upcoming device. Some of the things OnePlus has confirmed is there will be no headphone jack, but it could mean the device could have a bigger battery; and it will come with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Some of the other rumoured specs claim it could run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, Android Pie, and at least 6GB of RAM—which are all features you can expect from the latest flagship phones. It’s said to be priced around US$550 but there is no word yet when we might expect the device to launch.
