Google introduces an anti-doomscroll feature on Android

Google

A new Android feature called Pause Point hopes to help you stay off apps you find "distracting" or those that make it easy to doomscroll. When you indicate or label an app as distracting, Pause Point will require you to pause for 10 seconds each time you open the app to help deter mindless scrolling (if that's why you wanted to open it in the first place).

Aside from trying to dissuade you from doomscrolling, Pause Point can even be set to suggest other "healthier" alternatives, like your favourite fitness or audiobook apps, your favourite photos or even a simple breathing exercise. Pause Point requires you to restart your phone to turn the feature off, adding an extra resistance layer for getting into these distracting apps.
