OnePlus 2 release reportedly delayed by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 issues

Hoping to bring out another game changing device, OnePlus team has been creating a lot of hype for its next flagship, the OnePlus 2. It was expected to come out in Q2 of this year but apparently it is getting pushed back to the third quarter. The reason? Issues with Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 810 processor. If true, this issue might even cause some problems for the upcoming flagships of other brands. The other rumoured specs of the new OnePlus device are that'll also run on 4GB of RAM and have a QHD 5.5-inch display.

Timex enters wearable fray with Ironman One GPS+ sports watch

Timex is taking the renowned Ironman performance watch name to another level as it releases its first wearable, the Timex Ironman One GPS+ which was created in collaboration with AT&T and Qualcomm. What's most notable about this new wearable is that it doesn't rely on a smartphone and works independently since it connects to cellular providers directly, one year of data connectivity included for Canadian subscribers.

Qualcomm introduces 64-bit Snapdragon chipsets

Qualcomm is bringing to the market two new mobile processors built with 64-bit architecture and Cat 6 LTE. The Snapdragon 810 and 808 are intended to improve on its current offerings to help usher in better devices in the future. The chips are expected to hit the market next year.

The new members of the Snapdragon line will add support for 4K displays with the help of the Adreno 430 GPU and these processors based on ARM core designs instead of its own Krait. Qualcomm said Cat 6 LTE support will depend on the carriers. The Snapdragon 810 uses a combination of a quad-core ARM Cortex-A57 processor and Cortex-A53. While the 808 uses two ARM Cortex-A57 with a quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU.

Qualcomm announces Snapdragon chip for 4K TVs

The latest crop of smart televisions, particularly of the 4K Ultra HD variety, have all the latest video technology crammed into beautiful form factors. However, there is much left to do in terms of user interface and online integration. Qualcomm aims to boost the browsing and app capabilities of the UHD sets with Snapdragon 802 quad-core SoC to help with 4K content playback and application multi-tasking and operation. It even comes with Hollywood Quality Video processing engine designed to upscale 1080p videos to near 4K image quality.

Engadget reports some of the more technical specs including quad-core Krait 1.8GHz CPU; Adreno 330 GPU; AllJoyn integration; two-stream, dual-band 802.11ac; and Snapdragon Studio Access content protection.
