Leaks of Samsung Galaxy Z Rollable patent surfaces

The latest patent leak of a potential Samsung device doesn't seem like too far-fetched an idea. The alleged Samsung Galaxy Z Rollable patent from tipster xleaks7 on X showed a device that slides out on one side, turning it from a typical slab phone into a book-style gadget reminiscent of the Galaxy Z Fold series. The camera island sits on the left side of the device, nestled inside a cutout that separates when the rollable device extends outwards.

As Android Central pointed out, Samsung previously showed off a Rollable Flex concept device at CES 2024, which was described as a phone with an "expandable display that can become up to five times larger than its original size." While we wonder about the durability of an actual Galaxy Z Rollable, it does give us a peek at what ideas Samsung is toying with—if the leak is true, that is.

Samsung Display shows off tri-folding screen, rollable display

No, it's not an actual product yet, but these two display designs might be for Samsung's future. Samsung Display shares two sketches of possible new display technology from the company.

The first illustration shows a tri-fold display that could evolve the existing Galaxy Fold. It can fold down to a third of the screen's size, which means the Fold could eliminate the external display. There's the logo Samsung OLED at the bottom of the screen.
