Spotify Premium users can now hide songs they don't like in playlists

Spotify is letting its Premium subscribers have more control over what they're listening to on the service. Both Android and iOS users can hide songs they don't want to hear in any playlist on Spotify. A new "hide song" option is available from the context menu of the specific tracks. The next time you listen to the playlist, it won't play the song you hid. You can choose to un-hide songs as well.

Spotify Kids app is now available in Canada

If you're worried about your children listening to songs they shouldn't, then you might want to try out the Spotify Kids app. The standalone music app for children launched in Canada, the US, and France on March 31. It's an ad-free app available for Spotify Premium Family subscribers and designed for children ages three and older.

It has 30% more content than when it first rolled out in beta in Ireland in October. There are now 8,000 songs and 125 playlists made specifically for kids. On top of that, there are over 60 hours of stories, including fairy tales, Disney Music Group stories, short tales, and classic stories.

Spotify lets you edit your profile name and photo on mobile

It's a seemingly simple feature, but it's taken Spotify a while to bring it to its mobile apps. Thankfully, it's available now. The streaming music platform now lets you change your profile name and photo within the iOS and Android apps. Head to the Settings (gear icon), tap on View Profile, and then select Edit Profile underneath your name. The app will then let you change your name or photo there.

Look up your favorite songwriters on Spotify with Songwriter pages

You can learn more about the songwriters your favourite artists collaborate with through this new Spotify beta feature called "Songwriter pages." With this feature, it'll soon allow you to click on a songwriter's name in the credits to learn more about their work. But it isn't an in-app function. Instead, it'll open a webpage that lists the songwriter's other works. The webpage even has a playlist link you can listen to when you want to discover other music from the songwriters. One of the live Songwriter pages is of Teddy Geiger, a frequent collaborator of Canadian pop superstar Shawn Mendes.
