Elon Musk says Tesla minibus and semi truck to be unveiled next year

Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk gave a more specific timetable for the company’s recently announced plans to create an electric semi truck and minibus.  Musk said during the investor call for the release of its second quarter earnings, the new vehicles will be unveiled in early to mid-2017. “We expect to unveil those for the middle of next year, maybe the next six to nine months type of thing. And then [we’d] have a better, more fleshed-out plan for when those would enter production,” Musk said.

It seems to be so sudden for these vehicles to come out but Musk has said the bus will be built using the Model X’s architecture. They could already have working prototypes to build on for this. The semi truck is something new though so we’re curious to see how they plan to do that. After revealing said vehicles, Musk said both vehicles “would enter production within low-single digit years.”

2016 Canadian International Auto Show reveals an industry at the crossroads

Toronto, ON- The 2016 Canadian International Auto Show is heading into its last weekend. While highlighted by various snazzy concept vehicles a record number of vehicle launches at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the buzz in the floor show was a clear dychotomy of where the industry is at currently.

While many visitors were excited to see the latest in electrified vehicles and hybrid options, trucks and SUVs still drew large crowds of visitors who were earnest in trying out the vehicles as their next purchase.

One of my favourite parts of the AutoShow is the Auto Exotica section which displays exotic supercars and ultra luxe vehicles that most of us can only dream of riding in, much less owning.

Tesla finally owns Tesla.com domain

The domain Tesla.com has been owned by a Nikola Tesla fan and engineer named Stu Grossman. He’s held the rights to it since 1992. But it seems Tesla Motors has finally gotten their hands on it. If you visit Tesla.com, you’ll be redirected to Teslamotors.com. And this certainly comes at a time when Tesla CEO Elon Musk wanted to change its name to reflect the change in business scope of the company, like the Tesla Energy wing of the company. It’s not known how the change came about or if Grossman got a big payout for it.
