Twitter is reportedly testing 'Undo Send' option

Photo by Claudio Schwarz | @purzlbaum on Unsplash

While it's still not an edit button, Twitter is supposedly testing a new Undo Send option for tweets. That feature is reminiscent of the Undo Send option on Gmail. App researcher Jane Manchun Wong shared on Twitter a first look for the feature, which has a timer that lets you take back any hot takes or questionable or erroneous comments you're about to make on the social network. It gives you around five seconds to retract a sent tweet.

Twitter for Android finally gets 4K image upload and viewing

It took almost a year for Twitter's Android app to get the feature, but finally, the social network allows users to upload and load 4K images. The caveat is it's currently only live on Twitter beta v8.76 and above. Unlike the iOS implementation, where you press and hold the image to get the option, the Load 4K feature is accessible through the three-dot menu that shows up when you open an image.

If you want to upload 4K images, head to Settings and privacy > Data usage > High quality image upload. From there, you can select if you wish to upload high-resolution photos on Mobile data & Wi-Fi or whichever option you'd prefer.

Twitter to shut down Squad app on Dec. 12 following acquisition

Source: Squad

Twitter has just purchased Squad, an app that lets you share your screen and video chat with others simultaneously. And with the acquisition, the social media company plans to shut down the app today, December 12. Squad's entire team will join Twitter as part of the deal. Squad co-founder Esther Crawford writes in a Medium post that Twitter wants her company's audio and video expertise. Twitter didn't reveal the acquisition terms, and we don't know if it includes Squad's tech.

Squad gained popularity at the start of the pandemic when its usage increased by 1,100 percent. TechCrunch speculates that Twitter's decision to shutter the app might have something to do with how it was built with Snap's developer tools. That porting Squad to Twitter's backend might not be possible because of this. The move might be for the best as Twitter isn't the best with managing apps outside its core app. Twitter shuttered Vine in 2017 and has seen TikTok rise from its ashes as one of the most popular social media apps right now.

Chadwick Boseman's final tweet is Twitter's most-liked post ever

The final tweet posted on actor Chadwick Boseman's Twitter account is now the most-liked post on Twitter. A fitting tribute to the actor who passed away on Friday after a four-year struggle with colon cancer. The social media company tweeted the news on Saturday afternoon on their official account: "Most liked tweet ever. A tribute fit for a King. #WakandaForever." At the time of this writing, the post already has 7.3 million likes. The tweet broke the previous record held by this tweet from former US President Barack Obama, which garnered 4.3 million likes.

Twitter has also brought back the original #BlackPanther emoji as fans are organizing Black Panther Twitter watch parties using that hashtag and #WakandaForever.
