What to expect from Videotron's Freedom Mobile acquisition

Videotron, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Quebecor, now owns Freedom Mobile. Quebecor and Shaw Communications announced that this creates the "fourth strong, competitive wireless service provider" in the country. Videotron has promised François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, to lower prices to benefit Canadians.

Videotron becomes first Canadian carrier to enable toll-free international calling over Wi-Fi

Videotron  is the first Canadian carrier to enable its customers to place toll-free calls over Wi-Fi to a local number or to Canada in more than a hundred countries1. Videotron’s new Wi-Fi Calling service lets eligible mobile customers2 connect to a Wi-Fi network to make voice calls and send text messages, at home and abroad.

LG V20 comes to Canada

If you’ve kept your eye out for the LG V20, the phone has finally made its way here. The catch is a substantial increase in price. If you buy it outright at Videotron, it costs $1,029.95. Wind Mobile offers it at $999 outright. If you’re willing to enter a contract with either Videotron or Wind, Videotron has it starting at $249.95 with a monthly plan of $79.95 for 24 months. Wind is offering it starting at $349 for a $25 per month plan. Those who purchase the V20 are entitled to a free pair of the B&O Play H3 headphones to take full advantage of the Quad DAC capabilities of the phone.

HTC Desire 530 comes to Canada
