WeatherSignal crowdsources weather using Android phones’ sensors

Most weather apps make use of static stations around cities to get you weather information. With WeatherSignal app for Android, it makes use of your phone’s sensors to get atmospheric results and even ambient temperature, in some cases. It can determine precipitation, air pressure, and the like. For some phones, humidity can be measured, too.

WeatherSignal also makes use of Google’s new Activity Recognition API to keep track of the kind of activity you’re doing as well as the state of the air and your acceleration. It is said to work best with the Samsung Galaxy S4 and works with other WeatherSignal users in your immediate area to determine the weather. You can download the free app from the Google Play Store.
