YouTube Music has a new Explore tab to help with music discovery

YouTube Music is getting another new feature on mobile to help you discover new songs. The streaming music app will replace the Hotlist tab with a new Explore tab. The section features two subsections: New Releases and Moods & Genres. If you use other streaming music apps like Spotify, then you've seen something similar. The New Releases section considers your listening history when it shares you new tracks to listen to, while the Moods & Genres section offers premade playlists you might want to dive into. The company has started rolling out the feature, so expect it to make its way to your Android or iOS device soon.

YouTube Music on the web adapts Play Music's inline search results

YouTube Music is taking inspiration from Google Play Music once again. This time, it's making it easier to look for the songs you want to listen to. It now shows you three autocomplete matches below the search bar along with standard suggestions. It also nows the type of media as well as the album, artist, and subscriber count in some cases. Unlike with Play Music, though, there's no way to play right from the search result. And this new look doesn't seem to be widely rolled out yet, so you might have to settle with seeing full search results for now.

YouTube Music's mobile app now has a song lyrics section

YouTube Music logoIt's a feature most music streaming services have, so it's good to know that YouTube Music is following suit. The mobile app of the service now adds song lyrics to individual song pages, letting you have that impromptu karaoke session of your dreams. But you're going to have to do your scrolling. The feature doesn't automatically scroll in time with the song. If you want to pull up the lyrics, you need to play a song first, then tap on the small "i" icon on the bottom left side of the screen. The words will show up similar to how they are presented in Google Search.

Google Search can now direct you to YouTube Music when you look for albums

YouTube Music is slowly getting more and more features to entice more people to use the service. And now, when you look for albums on Google, one of the suggested options to listen to said music will include this streaming service. It won't play the tracks immediately, but you will be taken to its listing or the mobile app if you're on your phone. It joins the likes of Spotify, Deezer, and Play Music. However, this option doesn't seem to be available for specific tracks or artists yet. We're hoping YouTube Music fixes this oversight soon.
