Watch YouTube videos in sync with others using ShareTube

ShareTube is offering a rather simple yet rather useful solution for when you want to watch YouTube videos simultaneously with your friends or family without having to crowd one screen. It lets you create playlists and sync playbacks for everyone in the room. It’s not an entirely new concept but what does set it apart is it isn’t just for music videos. You can create shared video playlists of any YouTube video and talk about each one. Just search for the video you want and you’re good to go.

YouTube going hyper immersive with 360-degree live streaming and spatial audio

YouTube reportedly developing live streaming app

If reports are to be believed, YouTube wants to get in on the live streaming game. The company is supposedly branching out to have a new live streaming one called YouTube Connect. YouTube won't comment on this but it is said the new app will have a similar format to Periscope, meaning you can log into the app with your Google or YouTube account and immediately start streaming from your phone. It'll also supposedly have a chat and tagging feature and a news feed that shows your friends's streams as well as the accounts you subscribe to on YouTube. The speculation arises after many have tried to get into the live streaming space to attract younger users and capitilize on the rise of the live format.

YouTube for iOS gets Slide Over and Split View support

YouTube app gets a significant update on iOS for iPad users. The video streaming app gets Slide Over and Split View support. As a refresher, SlideOver lets you check an app briefly by sliding it onto the screen, while Split View lets you run two apps side-by-side. Of course the usual caveats apply with Slide Over works with Apple tablets that extend as far back as the original iPad Air and iPad mini 2. Meanwhile, Split View works with the iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4, and both iPad Pro models. Unfortunately, Google didn’t implement iOS 9’s Picture in Picture feature so you won’t be able to watch YouTube videos while using another app or while you’re on the iPad home screen.
