Google's Moto X to launch on August 1 at a NYC event

So, Googlerola is finally ready to take the wraps off the Moto X Smartphone. The date is August 1st and the lstage is set in New York City. What we know so far is that that the Moto X will be built in the USA and will offer various customization options starting with, but not limited to, the colours and possibly the material or finish of the case.  We also know from the leaked video earlier this week that it will have an always-on voice command and search function. It has been a while since Motorola ruled the roost of the Android smartphone space and it will be interesting to see if they can climb right back to the top with Google’s steady, guiding hand.

Video: Samsung's ATIV One 5 all-in-one PC

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

The PC market is in a freefall and everyone except Lenovo is hurting bad. So, PC manufacturers need to pull out all the stops to entice users back and make the desktop sexy and exciting again. All-in-one PC's are one way to go, they are convenient, space saving and multi-functional, specially with the new touchscreens that are needed to get the most out of Windows 8.

With the oddly-named Samsung ATIV One 5 AIO PC, you get a 21-inch PC and monitor in one that features a TV Tuner as well as Kinect-like gesture control (one of the use cases is in kitchens when you are perusing recipes or videos and don't want to contaminate the screen with your dirty hands). Samsung has gone with a quad-core AMD processor this time around (cheaper?). The all-white styling is derived from Samsung's Galaxy tablet line which is all white (in order to differentiate from the competition, they say).

Review: Chevrolet Sonic RS Turbo

Photos and text by Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

I had the pleasure of testing the Chevy Sonic RS over a weekend as well as through a Klout perk that brought me and two dozen people to the Canadian Tire Motorsport park for an intensive stunt driving and racing course. So, I had the opportunity to test the Sonic RS as a daily driver as well as in a sportier setting.

It is hard to imagine that the top of the line Chevy Sonic RS is the replacement for Chevy's humble Aveo econobox, but it is. Chevy has heaped all the premium features, amenities and upgrades on the Sonic RS, so that it is replete with luxuries and conveniences worthy of larger, loftier and more expensive cars.

Apple acquires Toronto-based Locationary

In a move to bolster it's location services across devices, Apple has reportedly purchased Toronto-based location data and crowdsourcing startup Locationary. Locationary uses a large data exchange platform and crowdsourcing to constantly gather, merge and verify data and geographic points for local businesses. It will be interesting to see how these services will enrich the iOS and Mac mapping experience moving forward.
