'Stardew Valley' on Android gets a new update

The Android version of Stardew Valley gets bumped up to version 1.4, bringing new features to mobile for the first time. Some of the new features include late-game building upgrades in town, new 14 heart events for every spouse, and new farm fish ponds. There are also over 60 new items, 24 new hairstyles, 181 shirts, as well as new hats, pants, and boots. Oh, and there's even tailoring. Stardew Valley also adds a Quality of Life improvements, 14 new music tracks, and the capability to transfer saved files on the PC to mobile. And yes, sheds can be upgraded, too.

On top of those features, the game gets "hundreds of bug fixes." Unfortunately, there is no news when the iOS version will be getting the update. Stardew Valley costs $10.99 on Android.

Look up your favorite songwriters on Spotify with Songwriter pages

You can learn more about the songwriters your favourite artists collaborate with through this new Spotify beta feature called "Songwriter pages." With this feature, it'll soon allow you to click on a songwriter's name in the credits to learn more about their work. But it isn't an in-app function. Instead, it'll open a webpage that lists the songwriter's other works. The webpage even has a playlist link you can listen to when you want to discover other music from the songwriters. One of the live Songwriter pages is of Teddy Geiger, a frequent collaborator of Canadian pop superstar Shawn Mendes.

Uber brings 'RideCheck' to Canada

Uber is bringing in its RideCheck feature to Canada. The safety feature first came to the U.S. last fall. RideCheck allows Uber to contact both the drivers and the passengers to make sure they're okay. Uber can do this with the use of its GPS tracking technology to see if something went wrong during a trip—whether there was an unexpected long stop or a potential crash.

The company will initiate RideCheck by sending a notification to both the rider's and the driver's phones. It'll ask you if you are alright. If it's a false alarm, you can reply "I'm fine, I stopped on purpose" to dismiss the message.

Gboard to let you combine two emojis on Android

Ever wanted to send someone a cactus monkey emoji? Well, Google's Gboard keyboard will let you do just that. With the new Gboard Emoji Kitchen, you can combine two emojis to create unique or super-specific emoji. These hybrids though won't be sent as a traditional emoji but as a sticker instead. And Google has selected which emojis you can pair since these had to be created manually. The feature should be rolling out widely to Android users over the next few days, but Google hasn't said if it'll be coming to iOS, too.
