Just as we reported that the original Google Pixel hadn't received the latest Android security patch, we get word that the December update will be the last for the first-generation Google Pixel and Pixel XL. The final software update will come with several fixes and security patches. It comes as no surprise that Google ends support for the device. The company promised two major Android software updates and three years of security updates. The Pixel and Pixel XL exceeded its lifespan when it received Android 10 recently. Now, we don't know if Google will follow the same policy with the Pixel 2 and Pixel 3. Frankly, only time will tell if the extended support is part of a new strategy for the company.

Adobe Photoshop for iPad officially launches in Canada

After a long wait, Adobe Photoshop for the iPad is now available. It doesn't offer the full suite of editing tools you can expect on the computer. For now, you can edit and manipulate multiple layers, access Cloud PSD files, use layer masks, among others. According to the company's blog post about the release, "Over time, we'll add more capabilities and workflows as we learn more about how customers use Photoshop on a mobile device." So, if there are features you want, it might be best to keep using it. Adobe is also introducing a new section on its forums to help familiarize yourself with the app as well as solve any issues you have.

The app is built on the same codebase as the desktop app, so it won't be farfetched if it got the same features as the main Photoshop app. You can try it out for free for seven days, but you will need a Photoshop subscription to use it for more than a week.

Original Google Pixel doesn't get Nov. security update

The original Google Pixel and Pixel XL weren't supposed to get Android 10. Yet Google seems to have changed its policy of two major software updates. What hasn't changed is its three-year security update support, because now the 2016 flagship hasn't received the November security patch. Sometimes security patches don't make it as quickly to older devices, but this could also signal that Google is ready to retire its original smartphone. We'll keep you posted for any updates.

Google Nest Wifi comes to Canada

Google's new mesh router is now available in Canada. The one-pack Nest Wifi router costs $229, the two-pack goes for $349, and the three-pack retails for $459. This follow-up to Google Wifi is backwards compatible. It has two ethernet ports, and it offers Bluetooth connectivity. The Thread functionality, which can turn the Nest Wifi into a smart home hub, won't be available at launch. This mesh router is now accessible through Google's Home app, so it's easier to manage. It now has 25 percent greater coverage than its predecessor, as well. It supports internet speeds of up to 2.2Gbps, with one router covering 2,200 sq ft., the router and a point covering 3,800 sq. ft., and the three-pack is covering 5,400 sq. ft.

The Nest Wifi now also supports Assistant through its points, making it work similarly to a Home Mini or Nest Mini. It even has the same speaker as the Nest Mini. It isn't available on the main router, though. So, you'll need to get the router plus the Wifi point or point to get this feature.
