‘Hyper Light Drifter’ will become an animated series

Independent RPG Hyper Light Drifter is going to be turned into an animated series. Leading the charge is the game’s creator Alx Preston and producer Adi Shankar, who was behind Netflix’s adaptation of Castlevania. According to Preston, this project is still very much in its infancy. Shankar and Preston are still working out how to turn this 2D pixel game into a series. He told Polygon that they are “leaning a lot more towards something that’s representative of the game on the style side.” We’re not sure what he means by that, but we hope to hear more about the project soon. It isn’t known if the show will be a silent series or have dialogue. Right now the duo are reaching out to writers to see who can work on the script.

Instagram finally tests a seek bar for its videos

While it’s considered a video player staple, Instagram has for the longest time not had a seek bar for its videos. App researcher Jane Manchun Wong discovered that the social network is testing out a feature to let you skip backwards and forwards through a video without having to start it up again from the beginning. The feature is said to be working for IGTV, but this test brings it to videos on your regular feed. There isn’t word if the feature will be coming to Stories, too. For now, we’re waiting for the official launch of these feature.

Apple will shut down Texture on May 28th

It seems inevitable with the launch of Apple News+ service that Apple would be shutting down Texture. But this doesn’t bode well for users of the service who aren’t Apple users. Texture doesn’t currently support Android or Windows, so once it shuts down on May 28th you won’t have access to the all-you-can-read magazine service. Apple users will be getting a month-long free News+ trial to see if the new service fits. Unfortunately, those Texture subscribers outside of the Apple ecosystem won’t have that option just yet.

Google Photos adds new ‘Crop & Adjust’ feature to help keep photos of documents readable

Google Photos is making it easier for you to capture photos of receipts and other documents. Similar to the other AI-powered suggested actions in Google Photos, a new crop and adjust option will show up if it detects text-heavy images. If you select that option, it’ll automatically crop the picture to take out the background, clean up the edges, and improve readability. The feature is coming to the Android version of the app.
