Google Chrome to start blocking Flash next month

Starting in September, Google Chrome plans to shift the emphasis from Flash to HTML5. Chrome 53 will start block Flash, particularly those kinds that load “behind the scenes,” which can slow down casual browsing. HTML5 is known to be less resource-heavy as well as improve battery life, page loading, and responsiveness across the web.

Come December, Chrome 55 will make HTML5 the default browsing experience. Sites that have Flash-only support will be the only exceptions. But you’ll have the option to enable Flash when you visit. These changes will hopefully result in fewer crashes and hang-ups.

Sony to hold PlayStation event on September 7th in NYC

Next month, Sony will be hosting a PlayStation event, possibly to talk about its new version of the PlayStation 4 console. The event will take place at the PlayStation Theatre in New York City at 3 p.m. ET. While Sony won’t say they’ll be unveiling what’s internally being called as Neo, the company only says it’ll “share details about the PlayStation business.” Speculations surrounding the supposed competition of the Microsoft Xbox One S says the Neo will support 4K games and other media as well as a better processing power to make it work with virtual reality. Sony is set to release its PlayStation-only VR by October and a new console sometime next year.

‘Pokemon GO’ reminds you not to catch Pokemon while driving

At this point, if you haven’t heard of Pokemon GO, we’d think you’re living under a rock. The extremely popular augmented reality game has gotten so much hype and an addicted fan base that aspiring trainers (what you call the players in the game) have been playing the game no matter what situation they’re in—even while driving. That’s why Pokemon GO’s creator Niantic has released a minor update to the game reminding us to not catch Pokemon while driving. A prompt will keep showing up on your phone that reminds you not to play while driving and you’ll have to tap on the “I’m a passenger” button to resume playing. Of course, someone who’s driving can easily just tap on the button and say that they’re the passenger even if they aren’t. But what Niantic has done in a previous update is improve its scanning technology so it’s less likely you’ll spot Pokemon while in a moving car than by foot.

Apple iPads are a bigger hit with business users

While Steve Jobs used to abhor IBM, Tim Cook’s Apple has taken a different approach and is seeing growth in terms of it. Apple’s partnerships with the likes of IBM, Cisco, and SAP have started to pay off for them. According to The Verge, the company gets almost half of its iPad sales from corporations and governments, which isn’t the story when the iPad first came out. But since they have partnered with the aforementioned companies as well as Microsoft, Apple has managed to make its iPads an attractive option for the enterprise market. If you remember, Apple recently released an ad showing off the computing capabilities of the iPad Pro. We’ve also recently wrote about how the iPad Pro works for the post-PC era.
