Facebook now lets you respond with video comments

Facebook is bringing in another way to respond to comments: video. The idea was prototyped early this year at Facebook’s 50^th Hackathon but has been refined by the Facebook team afterwards to become an official feature. Being able to make video responses is available to all users around the world. You can post them as replies to posts by people and pages and also within groups and events. It works on desktop web, iOS, and Android. Just tap on the camera icon next to the comment field and share your video comment.

Twitter experiments with putting Moments in main timeline

Hoping to get more eyeballs on its Moments feature, Twitter is testing out putting a few of these “moments” on your timeline. Some users who have access to Moments have spotted this feature in their timeline as a carousel with five trending topics on it. If one of the topics interests you, you can tap on that and then the app will bring you to Moments. Of course, since they’re testing it out with a number of users, we can’t say you’ll be seeing the feature. But if Twitter deems it a success, they might bring it on as an official feature soon. Moments is designed by Twitter to help you see what latest stories are unfolding in your area and around the world.

Apple Pay tipped to be coming to web purchases

If recent rumours are to be believed, Apple Pay won’t just be limited to select iOS devices but will be coming to online purchases as well, which means taking the fight to PayPal. It’s said Apple might unveil this plan at the upcoming WWDC 2016. It isn’t known though if it’ll work with devices that don’t have fingerprint sensors, such as desktops, or if it’ll only work with the Safari browser. At the moment Apple Pay only works with iPhone 6/6s, iPhone 6/6s Plus, iPhone SE, both iPad Pro models, iPad mini, and Apple Watch, because it makes use of your fingerprint to verify the purchase or your heartbeat, which is the case with the Apple Watch. There have been recent rumours that Apple is also releasing a new MacBook with a Touch ID fingerprint sensor, so that could answer that concern. We’ll just have to wait a few weeks if there is any truth to the speculation.

Apple expands cloud service support for iTunes U

The new version of iTunes U puts more cloud services to work. Version 3.3 now lets you add materials you’ve stored on cloud services like Box, Dropbox, and Google Drive. But you’ll need to have these non-iCloud services installed and signed in to import your files. If you’re a student, Apple’s Classroom app will now also guide you to specific iTunes U courses. Teachers, on the other hand, can also import class rosters from Apple School Manager. The app now also brings Explain Everything and Notability project files as course materials for the staff or hand-ins by students.
