VeloMetro introduces e-bike/car hybrid and co-sharing plan

We can’t quite classify the Veemo prototype as an e-bike, it’s also not really a car as its still electronically limited to a top speed of 20mph (because beyond that would classify it as a motor vehicle). The prototype from Vancouver-based startup VeloMetro still needs you to pedal it but it will rely on whether you want more or less help from its built-in electric motor. It comes with an electric assist feature.

This tricycle is also enclosed in an aerodynamic body to help protect you from the elements. Once available, it can be an ideal vehicle/e-bike to take to and from work. Plus, you still don’t even need a license to use it and you won’t even have to own it.

Tidal scores another streaming exclusive with Kanye West’s new album

You love him or you hate him but Kanye West isn't going anywhere. Yeezy is back with a new album called The Life of Pablo and if you want to get your hands on it, it’s available for exclusive streaming over at Tidal. You can also score a digital copy of the 18-track album on Kanye’s Tidal page for US$20. Kanye joins the likes of other music superstars like Rihanna and Beyoncé. Rihanna released her ANTI album while Beyoncé debuted her single “Formation” exclusively on the service. If you aren’t on Tidal, you have to wait for a week for the album to make its way to other services.

Yahoo rolls back initial integration of Tumblr’s sales team with its company

Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer

Yahoo might be giving back some of Tumblr’s autonomy as Yahoo yet again missed earning expectations and is trying to reorganize itself internally for a better future. Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer initially promised that Tumblr would be a standalone entity when it acquired the company back in 2013 for US$1.1 billion. But she seemed to take back the idea when they combined Yahoo and Tumblr sales staff. It supposedly caused a bit of an issue with Tumblr staff as both sales teams targeted different markets.

The sudden change in plans make us question how Yahoo will be able to work moving forward and if this means Yahoo might even consider selling Tumblr off in the future. From Tumblr’s end, the official statement is it “has introduced a number of innovative ad products to maximize value for our advertisers and best meet their needs. To further support these efforts moving forward, we have returned to a dedicated direct sales team.”

Apple might not be pushing through with its TV service

We might be getting a new show from Apple but it seems their plans to put up a standalone TV service might be on the backburner at the moment. CNN interviewed CBS CEO Les Moonves recently and he claims their network hasn’t had recent talks with Apple about its TV service. Moonves even said they’ve given Apple a notice about how the “phone is always ringing” as other companies are trying to partner with CBS for a similar streaming service.

Speculation is Apple decided to drop its TV service plans for now because networks like CBS demand too much money. While Apple is keen on keeping its rumoured pricing scheme of around US$30 to $40 and it wants to incorporate all major networks.
