Samsung lets Chinese users delete smartphone bloatware

Samsung users in China have something we wish we had: the ability to delete bloatware. The South Korean brand isn’t waiting for the verdict of a Chinese lawsuit against them regarding bloatware. Samsung will be offering patches this August to let owners delete bloatware from the likes of the Galaxy Note 3, which was cited in the lawsuit, and the more recent ones like the Galaxy S6. They didn’t specify though which apps can be deleted, but it’ll a lot of the non-essentials, we assume.

Customize your iOS keyboard’s colours with Photokeys

Want to customize your iPhone’s keyboard further? Photokeys lets you make unique keyboard colours from your own photos. The app selects the major colours of a shot from your photos (either a new one or one from your Camera Roll) to create a five-colour palette. You can customize these by moving the colour marker where you want it to be. These colours will be assigned to the background, text button background, text button colour, functional button background, and functional button text colour. You can even set the mood to either Bright, Indifferent, or Dark for the keyboard.

Photokeys also gives you access to 100 emojis and works with any app. It supports auto-correction, numeric top row, predictive input, caps lock, and auto-capitalization.

Make your online posts go Kaboom and vanish

There are certain posts that have limited shelf lives. Or you just don’t want people seeing content past a certain time. That’s where apps like Kaboom come in handy. The app lets you set an expiry date on your posts. Whether it’s through WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook, direct links, email, or SMS, you can decide how long your messages or photos stay online. You can have it disappear after an hour, a day, or when you reach a certain number of views.

If security worries you, the app was created by AnchorFree, the team behind Hotspot Shield, a popular Wi-Fi security and online privacy app for Android.

Apple rumoured to be unveiling new Apple TV in September

It’s been two years since Apple refreshed its Apple TV device so now might be a good time for an upgrade. Recent reports have surfaced that the Cupertino-based tech giant plans to unveil a new version of its set-top box in September. The new Apple TV will reportedly have a slimmer chassis, “drastically improved” remote with touchpad input, Siri support, and a bump up for onboard storage. The gadget will even supposedly launch with its own App Store and software development kit. Apple declined to comment on these reports so we can only keep speculating about it at the moment.
