Twitter shuts down the ability to play games in tweets

It was fun while it lasted. But Twitter decided that users shouldn’t be able to play classic MS-DOS games within the app. This unintended feature was said to violate the “rules of engagement” of the site. Twitter hasn’t allowed developers yet to host rich applications within its social network so the shutdown doesn’t come as a surprise.

Say goodbye to Windows Media Center

Looks like Microsoft is ready to pull the plug on Windows Media Center. They haven’t been updating or developing the service since 2009 but it has been shipped in an upgrade pack for Windows 8. But it would seem that won’t be moving beyond that. So, if you’re going to upgrade to Windows 10, prepare to part ways.

Windows Media Center was built as a separate Windows XP version and it was going to run full screen as a media player. It also could support TV channels via TV tuners. There were dedicated Media Center PCs out there but it didn’t gain enough traction to go mainstream.

Second standalone ‘Star Wars’ film will need a new director

Aside from the new trilogy, there were plans of developing “anthology” films or a series of standalone movies for Star Wars. Rogue One is set to be released next year and Josh Trank was working on the second unnamed title. Or at least he was supposed to. Trank said in a post on StarWars.com: “After a year of having the incredible honor of developing with the wonderful and talented people at Lucasfilm, I’m making a personal decision to move forward on a different path.”

Trank is working on the reboot of Fantastic Four. And there have been rumours that things aren’t going well on that front either. According to The Hollywood Reporter, writer-producer Simon Kinberg (who worked with Trank on Fantastic Four and the Star Wars project) was reluctant to work on another film with him. There is no word who’ll be replacing him yet but we’re sure we’ll be getting news soon enough.
